Letter 13: Change that starts at Home

The beginning of a new year always feels like a natural pause. A moment to look at what’s working, what’s shifted, and what we want to carry forward. While so much of the focus is on big goals and bold changes, some of the most meaningful ones happen quietly—right at home.
Not every change requires a move. Sometimes it’s simply slowing down, being more present, or creating a little more calm in the middle of busy lives. It’s the everyday moments that give a home its heart: after-school conversations, lounging with the dogs, and that feeling of ease when you walk through the door.
Here in Lafayette, those moments often happen outside the house too. They show up while walking the dogs, staying active around the neighborhood, or bumping into neighbors on an evening walk. Those small, unplanned connections are what turn streets into communities.
As our family continues to grow here, alongside our kids and our neighbors, we’re reminded how much home shapes the way we live. And as life evolves, sometimes our space needs to evolve with it. When that time comes, it’s worth honoring the change and choosing what comes next with intention.
Wherever this year takes you, my hope is that your home continues to support the life you’re building—right here in our community.
Here’s to a New Year guided by heart.
From the Heart,
Nin Tang
